The City Council received the new KPL Development Plan from The Foraker Group Pre-Development Program Project Manager Martha Schoenthal at the Special Council Meeting on September 23, 2010. This deliverable transitions the new KPL project from its pre-development phase to management by the City. The City will review the new KPL Development Plan and determine how to proceed. Going forward with developing the new KPL, the following activities are likely next steps.

The City to make recommendations on best way to manage the new KPL stakeholder’s expectations and communications, grant identification/application schedule/grant writing and capital campaign fundraising activities.
Voters to decide on October 5, 2010 if the City should authorize the issuance of General Obligation Bonds up to $5.2M to finance a portion of the cost of constructing and equipping a new public library.

Ketchikan City Council to appoint a Library Building Committee to continue from the work of the Library Feasibility committee through the design and construction phase.
The City to complete negotiation and procure the Copper Ridge site for the new KPL.
In progress and on schedule- The City to manage the Program Management and A/E Services for the next phase of design. Design to begin with anticipated milestones at 35% design, 65% design and then final construction documents.
